Frequently asked questions.

We know you will have many questions, so please take the time to read through our FAQs carefully. We are always here if you have any questions, just send us an email.

HOW MANY PERFORMERS WILL BE IN THE TOURING ENSEMBLE?

Whilst we would love to take everyone, we have to cap the numbers due logistics and stage sizes. Our final number will also depend on the talent and showmanship that we see at Auditions.

WHAT IF I DON'T MAKE IT?

Depending on numbers, we have the structure and capability to create a State Ensemble in SA and a State Ensemble in Victoria. A little like The Australian Ballet, these Ensembles will have their own performance opportunities. They will not tour in 2025, but they will train in the same way as the ‘touring’ Ensemble, and work towards their own commercial performance. Further information (including training requirements and fees) will be released about our State Ensembles as we start to gauge Audition numbers in SA & VIC.

WHO ARE OUR COACHES?

In SA, our Choreographic Team will be led by Artistic Director, Brooke Brown, and Head Choreographer, Rebecca Norsworthy. Our Victorian coaching team will be led by Head Choreographer Lucinda Williams. Other Coaching opportunities may exist for our state-based Ensembles, enquire at info@auscalisthenicstheatre.company

HOW WILL WE PERFORM AS ONE?

The choreography, teaching and polishing will be shared between coaches across the country. Broken down into seconds, songs, counts, wings, entries, exits and costume changes... combined with the amazing aptitude of our dancers, we will create a seamless production that highlights the talents of each performer. We cannot wait to see them all working together on stage!

WHAT IF I CAN’T ATTEND AUDITIONS?

If you are from SA, VIC or WA and cannot attend the in-person Auditions, we welcome you to audition via Video. Download the Video Audition Brief here. The Video Auditions will be watched by our panelists on the same weekend as the in-person Auditions.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY FEE?

The fees are outlined in the 2025 Info Pack. We try hard to provide as much value as possible for your fees. Included is:

• Travel, accommodation and expenses for interstate shows/workshop
• ACTC Uniform including 2025 jacket, leggings and duffle bag
• All training including technique classes in the ‘off-season’
• Keepsake of performance season (pin, patch etc)
• Professional headshot
• ‘Dancer Profile’ video
• Media opportunities wherever possible
• Inclusion in the ACTC Documentary
• Industry exposure

WHO OWNS THE COSTUMES?

ACTC owns all of the costumes. You can’t keep them after the shows, but they are available for hire. During the year, you cannot make changes to the costumes as they are created to be a set.

DO I NEED TO HELP WITH COSTUMES?

We have our costume-making processes refined and will not be requiring any help from parents. Saying that, if you love cutting, sewing or gemming, we will never say no to an extra set of hands!

WHAT IF I CAN’T ATTEND A LESSON?

It is a requirement that you attend as many lessons as possible, but we do understand that serious illness, pre-booked travel and mandatory competitions can get in the way. You just need to advise us via email if you cannot attend a lesson.

WILL THERE BE CLUBS & RODS IN THE SHOW?

Absolutely. This is a Calisthenics show and our job is to show you and your unique talents off to the world!
