'Strength' Wins Gold!
We are thrilled to announce that our short film 'Strength', directed by ACTC’s own Nick Berry-Smith, won the prestigious Gold Award at the Australian Cinematographers Society State Awards last Saturday night. This honour represents a fantastic achievement not only for the ACTC but also for the sport of Calisthenics, bringing well-deserved recognition to the dedication, discipline, and artistry it demands. A huge thank you to the talented KJ, Abby, Ava, Jessie, Erin, Ayanna, and Rutendo, whose powerful performances brought our vision to life on screen.
'Strength' was created to shine a spotlight on the resilience and incredible strength of the girls and women involved in Calisthenics. While the stunning performances audiences see on stage appear effortless, each is backed by countless hours of training, testing the very limits of human physical ability. These athletes dedicate themselves to perfecting complex movements and routines that develop endurance, flexibility, and power.
This film allows viewers to see Calisthenics in a new light, revealing the demanding nature of a sport that can take it's toll on the body and mind. Winning this award affirms the power and significance of the film’s message, and we are excited to share it with an even broader audience, showcasing ACTC and Australian Calisthenics as a powerful force in the performing arts. Congratulations to everyone involved!
